About DEFOAMER L15 Detail

L 15 Silicone Defoamer is a specialized, technical-grade chemical emulsion specifically designed to control and eliminate unwanted foam in water-based industrial processes. With an active content of 15%, it provides a balanced concentration suitable for various sensitive and demanding industrial applications.

General Description

  • Base Type: Silicone
  • Physical Form: Milky white liquid emulsion.
  • Ionic Nature: Non-ionic, which ensures high compatibility with diverse chemical systems.
  • Solubility: Easily dispersible in water.
  • Mechanism: It works by spreading rapidly across foam surfaces, disrupting the foam film, and causing bubbles to collapse almost instantly.

Industry-Specific Applications

Industry  Primary Use & Benefits Typical Application Points
Paint & Coatings Prevents surface defects like craters, pinholes, and micro-bubbles; ensures smooth film formation. Grinding, high-speed mixing, and let-down stages.
Pulp & Paper Improves drainage and machine runnability; prevents defects like spots and pinholes in finished paper. Brown stock washing, pulping, bleaching, and coating kitchens.
ETP (Effluent Treatment) Prevents tank overflow and interference with sensors; improves oxygen transfer and microbial activity. Aeration tanks, clarifiers, and equalization tanks.

Key Performance Features

  • Rapid Action: Offers immediate foam knockdown ("killing" existing foam) and sustained suppression ("antifoam" effect).
  • High Stability: Remains effective under high agitation, high temperatures (up to 300C), and a wide pH range (typically 2.0 to 12.0).
  • Cost-Efficient: Effective at very low concentrations, often ranging from 10 to 100 ppm (parts per million).
  • Chemically Inert: Does not react with biological treatment processes in ETP or affect the bonding properties of paper and paint resins.

Recommended Usage

For optimal performance, it is often recommended to dilute the emulsion with soft or potable water (ratio of 1:3 up to 1:10) prior to addition.
